3rd Force: Cross River-based Group condemns marginalisation in Federal Appointments

The 3rd Force, a socio-political pressure group based in Cross River state, has condemned the recent federal appointments into the governing councils of 111 federal tertiary institutions, citing marginalization of the state.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, the group expressed disappointment and outrage over the appointments, which saw Cross River state receiving only 6 nominations, including one chairmanship position.

According to Mennanse Ushang-Edem, spokesperson for the 3rd Force, the appointments are a result of selfish ambitions by a faction of political carpetbaggers seeking power in the 2027 gubernatorial race. These individuals, the group claims, are scheming to undermine the governor’s initiatives and create disunity in the state.

The 3rd Force has called on all sons and daughters of Cross River state to unite against these divisive elements and ensure the state continues to thrive under the leadership of Governor Bassey Otu. The group is also urging the federal government to review and rectify the oversight in the appointment process, giving Cross River state its due recognition and representation.

“We will not be silenced by the selfish ambitions of a few, but will stand strong in our pursuit of justice and equality,” Ushang-Edem said.

The group’s statement has sparked a wave of outrage and solidarity on social media, with many calling for unity and fair representation for Cross River state.

The federal government has yet to respond to the group’s demands, but the 3rd Force has vowed to continue monitoring the situation and taking further actions if necessary.
