The Edo state office of the National population Commission, NPC, Benin -City and all it’s satellite offices at the various local government areas of Edo state are set and adequately ready for the conduct of the 2023 Census, anytime a new date is fixed.
The Federal Commissioner representing Edo State on the board of NPC, Dr. Tony Aiyejina who stated this at the premises of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Edo state council during a media interface with journalists in Benin City said the National Population Commission in Nigeria, most especially, Edo state is set to conduct the head count today, should it be such fixed by the Federal Government.
“It is important for Nigerians to know that the commission is ever ready to conduct the head count as all that is needed to be done have been taken care of.
Our men and material are on strong frequency of performance.
While appreciating the support gotten from the government and the traditional institutions in Edo state, the Federal Commissioner said ” I can’t but show the appreciation of NPC to Edo state Government, the various local governments, and parastatals of government. The traditional institution as headed by our revered monarch, the Oba of Benin and other traditional rulers in the state have been wonderfully supportive of all steps designed towards a successful headcount.
“What could we, as a body, have done without these supports from the government and leaders of the people. I can’t but also thank the security agencies and all other agencies that have contributed in one way or the other to making our jobs easier than we expected.
While to the Journalists and media practitioners in Edo state, Dr. Tony Aiyejina said ” my dear colleagues in the media, you people are our strongest ally in this census project. You people have provided the much-desired publicity and enlightened our people on the need for and operational conduct of the census.
” Journey of the 2023 census is not complete until the actual head count is concluded as such our partners in the media are relevant to every phase of the census. It is a fact that we can do nothing much without the media.
