ASUQUO EKPENYONG GREETS MUSLIM COMMUNITY ON EID-EL-FITR CELEBRATION

Senator-elect for Cross River South, Mr Asuquo Ekpenyong has extended felicitations to the Muslim communities in Cross River South on the occasion of Eid-El-Fitr.
In his goodwill Press Release made available by his Media Team, Mr Ekpenyong reiterates his confidence and belief in “one Nigeria” while admonishing Muslim faithfuls to walk in the path of national Unity.
“Ramadan fast is a core part of Islamic belief – a time to feel closer to God and reflect on the teachings of Prophet Mohammed, which harped on neighbourliness, purity of heart, unity, love for one another, peaceful co-existence, charity to the less privileged, etc.
Ultimately, we must draw practical lessons from these teachings to mitigate the disagreements associated with a plural ethno-religious setting like ours. The sacrifices of our forebears MUST NOT be in vain. Those sacrifices from the era of decolonization struggles  that saw our heroes past stand for the sovereignty of the nation we have today, the efforts of our gallant soldiers who sacrifice their comforts and luxuries that come with life for the protection and safety of Nigerians and her territories. All these can only be acknowledged and complemented through commitments and adherence to civic responsibilities as Nigerian citizens.
Cross River South and the state at large remain a haven for Nigerians of all tribes.Together, let’s cement our “National Unity” through mutual love and tolerance for the “ship of our nation to sail”.  Eid-El-Fitr Mubarak!”
