Yala New Yam Festival: Hon. Godwin Offiono Eulogises Yala Ochumode.

 

As the Yala-speaking tribe of Yala LGA in Cross River State marks her annual new yam festival every 30th August, the honourable member representing the Ogoja/Yala federal constituency, Hon. Godwin Offiono extends his warm felicitations to the people of Yala Ochumode on this year’s festivity.

Hon. Offiono being a son of the soil, applauds his brothers and sisters for their hard work, bravery, and consistency, a trait inherited from their foreparents. Lauding the farmers for their perseverance and resilience during the planting season, and for preserving the rich cultural heritage of Yala kingdom.

The MP encourages the people to extend their generosity and love to the weak, the elderly and non-indigenes who couldn’t farm, emphasizing the hospitality of Yala Ochumode overtime.

The Lawmaker reemphasises his continuous support and effective representation in the National Assembly.

“Today, we celebrate not just the harvest, but the importance of agriculture in nurturing our communities. It’s a time to reflect on the effort and dedication of our farmers, whose hard-work ensures we have food to enjoy and tradition to cherish. Let’s support and value the agricultural practices that sustain and bind us together and serve as a major occupation for our people.”

He further acknowledged the current economic challenges faced by the people of Nigeria but believes things will get better, especially for the people of Ogoja/Yala.
