IPAC Condemns Undemocratic Amendment of Electoral Law in Cross River State

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Cross River State, has strongly condemned the recent amendment to the Cross River Independent Electoral Law by the Cross River House of Assembly without public hearing or input from political parties.

IPAC described the move as a “betrayal of public trust” and a clear demonstration of the House of Assembly’s disregard for transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in electoral reform. The amendment is seen as a deliberate attempt to favor the ruling party at the expense of other parties, compromising the integrity of the electoral process.

IPAC demands:

1. Immediate repeal of the amended law
2. A fresh, inclusive process for electoral reform
3. Public hearing and input from political parties and civil society

The council urges the people of Cross River State to join them in rejecting this undemocratic amendment and demanding a fair, transparent electoral process. IPAC remains committed to participating in and supporting peaceful, free, fair, and credible local government elections.
