PDP Slams President Tinubu for Silence Amidst Nationwide Protests, Demands Urgent Address

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his silence amidst the ongoing nationwide EndBadGovernance protests. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Honourable Debo Ologunagba, demanded that President Tinubu immediately address the nation on pressing issues such as reducing petroleum prices, stemming the fall of the Naira, and ensuring food provision.

The PDP expressed concerns that the President’s silence is heightening public apprehension and sending a dangerous signal that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government is insensitive to citizens’ feelings. The party condemned the reported violence against unarmed protesters by APC-controlled security agencies and thugs.

The PDP called on President Tinubu to:

– Address the nation and reassure citizens on issues such as petroleum price reduction and food items
– Recover the over N50 trillion reportedly stolen
– Reduce tariffs on essential goods
– Cut the cost of governance
– Review luxury items in his government and channel funds to programs benefiting Nigerians

The party also urged security agencies to ensure professionalism in their duty of providing security and protection to citizens. The PDP encouraged Nigerians to remain peaceful and law-abiding in their pursuit of responsive and people-oriented governance.
