Housing remains a topnotch Priority of the Present Administration – Akpabio

The Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio has declared that Housing is one of the societal menace facing the African Continent.

He made the declaration through his representative Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong at the 17th Africa International Housing Show held on Monday at International Conference Centre, Abuja. The Senate President disclosed that Housing is one of the societal menace facing African Continent.

According to him, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs shows that Shelter alongside food and clothing is at the bottom of the pyramid and it is only after a man conquers those immediate and basic needs can he ascend upwards towards self actualization. Therefore, until the housing gap is sustainably bridged our society cannot develop onwards; he noted.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shares our concerns for accelerated efforts to change the housing situation of our country. It is a pain because every man is as rich as his poorest brother and every man who lives in a society where some are homeless can never truly claim to be sheltered, if he has a little bit of conscience; he said.

Akpabio noted that everyone needs a roof over his head, and whenever someone does not have a roof over his head, it is a reproach to all those who have roofs over their heads.

He thanked the organisers of the programme, IFC, AFDB, AUHE etc while assuring them that the 10th National Assembly will work closely with the Executive to address issues of Housing across the country as one of the key items in the social contract between government and the people.
