Following the application for the formation and affiliation of a Football Club by Hon. Godwin Offiono in Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, to curtail youth restiveness and harness talents for the good of the constituency, the Cross River State Football Association has approved and certified Offiono Stars Football Club (OSFC) of Ogoja/Yala, as a football team for the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency.
The certificate of approval and affiliation was on behalf of the Honourable member, presented to his constituency officer, Dr. Raphael Ogar Oko in Ogoja, by the Secretary of the Cross River State Football Association, Mr. Talabi Oke. While congratulating the MP, the FA secretary stated that, Offiono Stars FC, can now play and register for any of the state or represent the state in any competition outside the state.
With the approval, the team will see many footballers voluntarily forming community level Offiono Stars FC before proper recognition and integration. This initiative by the member representing Ogoja/Yala federal Constituency who had also distributed table tennis equipment to selected schools in the constituency, is to encourage peaceful coexistence, community development, talents hunt and promotion of sports in each of the 24 wards of the constituency and the society generally. The idea is to develop sports and harness skills from ward level to constituency level, and export them to the world.
