SSS Denies Involvement in Raid on Nigeria Labour Congress Headquarters

The State Security Service (SSS) has issued a statement denying any involvement in the security raid on the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday night. The raid, which was carried out by heavily armed security operatives, including police and plain-clothed individuals, has sparked controversy and raised concerns about the intentions of the security agencies.

The NLC had initially suggested that the SSS was responsible for the raid, but the agency has now denied any involvement. In a statement posted on X, the SSS said it did not “carry out any operation at the NLC office in Abuja.”

However, NLC General Secretary Emmanuel Ugboaja has insisted that the SSS was responsible for the raid, which targeted the 10th floor of the building where the NLC President and he have their offices. Ugboaja expressed concerns about the SSS’s intentions and questioned why the raid focused on the 10th floor.

The police have yet to comment on the raid, leaving many questions unanswered. The incident has raised concerns about the relationship between the security agencies and the labour movement in Nigeria.
