Gov. Otu orders immediate Electrification of Bekwarra LGA

 

Governor Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the Governor of Cross River State, has approved the immediate electrification and maintenance of the electricity infrastructure in Bekwara Local Government Area through the State Electrification Agency (SEA).

Aligned with Governor Otu’s commitment to prioritize the needs of the people, His Excellency has voiced out deep concerns over the condition of electricity situation in Bekwara and has ordered complete revamp of lines.

Recall that, Bekwarra has been without electricity for the past fifteen years (15yrs) and His Excellency the Governor has graciously approved the rehabilitation and immediate reconnections of the electricity infrastructure in Bekwarra.

Recognising the invaluable State wide tour and on the spot assessment of the electricity infrastructure by the Director General of State Electrification Agency, the Governor has shown total empathy to the people of Bekwarra and describes the situation as one which demands urgent response and attention.

Speaking, the Director General, CRS Electrification Agency, Mr. Francis Ekpo, confirmed that His Excellency has directed the immediate deployment of engineers to sites, making sure that the people of Bekwara have good electricity supply. He also stated that, all the communities in the State without electricity will be touched as it is the mandate of the State Electrification Agency, as provided by law to provide electricity to all the communities in Cross River State. The DG also appeals to other communities without power supply to exercise patience with the Governor as every community will feel the impact of electricity.

The Director General also appeals to the Chiefs, Elders, Youths and every member of the community in Bekwara on the need to take total control and develop proactive measures in securing the assets and other equipments once installed, to avert vandalization.
