The senate has called for a closed-door meeting to discuss a matter of dire importance involving Ireti Kingibe, member of senate representing FCT and Nyesom Wike, Minister of the FCT.

This precedes the ongoing dispute between Senator Ireti Kingibe and Nyesom Wike.

The recent rift between the two, with the minister of the FCT threatening to see that Ireti Kingibe loses her senatorial position in the forthcoming 2027 elections had proven to require emergency attention.

Senator Ireti had earlier pointed accusing fingers to Wike, with claims that she’s being sidelined in the administration of FCT affairs.

She went further to make reference to the 2024 FCT budget that had just been recently passed, questioning why it happened without her input.

The ongoing battle between the two had prompted the senate president, in person of Godswill Ukpabio, to call for an executive meeting to discuss the situation and see how both parties can come to terms.

The aim of the legislative meeting is to ensure that the rift between Kingibe and Wike is resolved amicably, while also ensuring that proper legislative processes are followed in the administration of FCT.
