CAN Urges Caution, Alternative to Protests Amid Economic Hardship

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has appealed to Nigerians to explore alternative means of expressing their grievances, rather than resorting to protests, which can be hijacked by hoodlums. CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, emphasized the need for dialogue, petitions, and town hall meetings to address pressing concerns, while giving the government more time to act.

Okoh acknowledged the pain and frustration of Nigerians, but cautioned against mass demonstrations, citing past experiences where protests degenerated into chaos. He urged the government to cut costs, implement the national minimum wage, and develop effective policies to address economic challenges.

CAN stands in solidarity with Nigerians, recognizing their constitutional right to peaceful protest, while advocating for a more inclusive approach to problem-solving through stakeholder consultations. By working together, sustainable solutions can be devised to reflect the needs and aspirations of the people.
