Akwa Ibom Governor Gov gifts Houses, Cash To Indigent Residents In 3 LGAs

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has launched poverty alleviation and empowerment programmes for indigent residents in three local government areas.

The councils are Ibeno, Onna and Eket.

Under his administration’s ARISE Compassionate Homes Initiative (ACHI), the governor started the intervention scheme by donating a furnished bungalow to a poor beneficiary at Iwuochang village in Ibeno LGA.

The governor, represented by the attorney-general and commissioner for justice, Mr Uko Udom (SAN), handed the house with solar-powered lighting, a borehole, and an empowerment package of N500,000 for a business start-up to support the family of Inyang.

The highly elated beneficiary, Mr Inyang, and other family members praised the God Almighty for using the governor to lift them above the poverty line.

“Let me, on behalf of my family, express joy at this marvellous reality that has dawned on us because we never expected that a better life would smile on us one day like this.

“We thank God for his mercies and the governor for remembering this family, especially in these hard times when most families struggle to survive. We pray for God’s protection for him and his cabinet for this singular intervention, and we should also help him touch the lives of others like us,” he enthused.

The ongoing inauguration and delivery of the homes and other facilities have moved to Ikot Nkan in Onna and Eket LGAs, respectively.
