Ministry of Agric & Food Security Perm Sec, Mr Temitope Fashedemi, under fire as House committee summons him

 

The House of Representatives committee on Rural development, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Marcus has called on the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security of Nigeria, Mr. Temitope Peter Fashedemi to report in person at the public hearing of the house committee on Rural development on fact findings towards the activities of the Rural development of the Ministry in the country. This invitation will mark the 4th consecutive call on the permanent secretary by the committee.

The Chairman laid emphasis on the need to have the permanent secretary in person and not a representative from the ministry to appear before the committee to answer pertinent questions and fact findings on the status of the Rural development projects for the country, most especially how the project approved on Rural development is being implemented under the ministry and area of lack of performance. 

In lieu of this, the committee embarked on oversight to the ministry and the permanent secretary was not available to interact with the team of committee members.

Furthermore, the committee in its meeting moved a motion of resolution that on Tuesday 21st May, 2024. By 2pm the permanent secretary should make himself available by appearing at the public hearing unfailingly or else they will involve their big stick on him to forcefully bring him before the committee if he fails to appear on this day.

The committee adjourned the sitting to the 21st of May, 2024 for the appearance of the permanent secretary.
