U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers: Nigeria’s Flamingos Thrash Central African Republic by 12:0 Agg.

 

Nigeria’s women’s U-17 football team, the Flamingos, thrashed Central African Republic 6-0 in the second leg to secure a spot in the next round of the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

The Flamingos defeated the Central African Republic 6-0 in the first leg in Cameroon as Nigeria completed a 12-0 aggregate victory in style.

Nigerian striker Harmony Chidi was the star of the day as she scored a hat-trick in style. She scored in the 2nd minute to fire the Flamingos ahead. Chidi then doubled the score in the 14th minute.

The Flamingos then scored a third in the 36th minute through Tessy Ojiyovwi to make the scores 3-0.

In the second half, the Nigerian girls continued to attack extended its lead when substitute Ramota Kareem scored in the 55th minute for the team’s fourth. Kareem grabbed a double in the 85th minute to further compound the woes of the visitors. 5-0

The thrashing was completed when Chidi scored the sixth goal of the match in the 90th minute to make it 6-0.

The victory ensured the Flamingos moved into the next round of the qualifiers with 12-0 aggregate win of their Central African Republic counterparts.

The 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be hosted by the Dominican Republic, from October 16th – 3rd November.

It will be the 8th edition of the tournament. Sixteen teams from six confederations are expected to participate in the tournament
