C’River Speaker commiserates with ex-Lawmaker, Essien Ayi over Son’s demise

 

The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambrm extended his heartfelt condolences to Rt. Hon. Essien Ayi, the former Member representing Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South in the federal house of representatives, following the tragic loss of his son, Essien Ayi Jr. The young Ayi Jr. passed away on the 28th of July, 2023, in Abuja, leaving behind a sense of sorrow that has touched the entire state.

The Speaker, speaking on behalf of the state assembly, expressed the depth of the loss felt by the entire House. He remarked on the promising nature of Essien Ayi Jr., acknowledging the signs of a young leader in the making.

 “It’s a painful loss for all of us in Cross River State House of Assembly, Essien Ayi Jr. displayed immense promise and showed all the signs of becoming a remarkable leader in his generation and community,” the Speaker lamented.

In response, Rt. Hon. Essien Ayi expressed his gratitude for the condolences offered by the Speaker and the assembly members. He also took the opportunity to extend his congratulations to the Speaker on his recent elevation to the position of a Speaker. Ayi commended the Speaker’s dedication to the state’s well-being and progress, highlighting the positive impact the Assembly had already made in a short span of time.

” I am thankful for the support we have received from the Speaker and the entire assembly. I also want to congratulate the Honourable Speaker on his emergence as Speaker of the 10th Assembly. He is already making our State proud with his leadership, and I offer my prayers for his success,” Ayi said.
