CRSHA Speaker Calls for arrest of organisers of Gày party in Cross River.

Elvert Ayambem, the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, has urged the state’s security organisations to track down those responsible for planning a gay party for minors in a hotel in Calabar.

According to reports, the party for which publicity was done covertly, was held two days ago, and numerous unaware kids as young as seven years old were seen there by local journalists.

In a press statement signed by his media aide, Matthew Okache, the Speaker insisted that relevant government MDAs must ensure that organisers and their collaborators are arrested.

He warned anyone, or any organisation, involved in similar unlawful activities to desist or risk prosecution by the authorities.

He emphasised that no area of the state permits gay activities.

Speaker Ayambem also issued a warning to hotels and nightclubs not to admit anyone under the age of 18 unless they are accompanied by parents or legal guardians.

Recall that former President Goodluck Jonathan signed the “Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Bill” into law in January 2014.

This legislation carries a 14-year prison sentence for anyone found practising same-sex marriage in Nigeria.
