The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, has advised Members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria to be united, supportive of each other and focused in order to achieve their aspirations.
Ayambem gave the advise recently when members of the council paid him a courtesy call in his office. He charged the Youth Council members to position themselves for leadership through unity and avoid “pull down syndrome,”
” I don’t believe in the saying that the youths are leaders of tomorrow, youths are today’s leaders. The 10th Assembly is made up of 80% youths. Youths must rise up to the challenge, support each other instead of pulling down yourselves, aspire for public office, position yourself for leadership”. He advised.
Ayambem congratulated the chairman of the group who was also celebrating his birthday and expressed confidence in his leadership. He assured the Youth Council of his support .
Also speaking the Member representing Yakurr 2, and Chairman House Committee on Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Mercy Akpama urged the youths to support Governor Otu’s government. She prayed for the success and progress of the youth council.
Earlier, the Chairman of the group, Comrade Dan Obu, had congratulated the Speaker on his success at the polls and subsequent emergence as Speaker. He further requested for a closer working relationship with the Speaker.
High point of the visit was the presentation of a gift to the Speaker by the Youth Council.
