Suspected Car jackers stab Bolt driver to death in Calabar

A bolt driver identified as Francis Atabi, was been stabbed to death in Calabar by some unidentified passengers, on Friday, May 26th at about 10pm.

According to an eyewitness account, the bolt driver was driving his passengers, when they got to Mary Slessor roundabout and started struggling for control of the steering in an attempt to steal his car.

He refused to let go, the passengers in the backseat of the vehicle tried to strangle him with a rope while the passenger in front continued to stab him multiple times with a kitchen knife.

The bolt driver even with all the stabs and struggling refused to let go and in the process, the vehicle which was already swaying on the highway, ran into a passerby(male) who is alleged to have died at the spot.

When this happened the “passengers” got off the car and ran away leaving the bolt driver in the pool of his own blood.

He was said to have managed to find his way into General hospital with the aid of some persons around, but was rejected and referred to teaching hospital because of the degree injuries he got from the multiple stabs which must have affected his heart.

Unfortunately he died before arriving teaching hospital last night.

Efforts to obtain comments from the Cross River Police PRO, ASP Irene Ugbor proved abortive, as her mobile number was “not reachable” at the time of filing this report.
