CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE TO OUR NEW GOVERNOR

The Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Cross River State heartily congratulates Ntufam Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu on the occasion of your inauguration as the Executive Governor of Cross River State.

Recall that you contested the election against several qualified fellow sons of Cross River State who from every indication also has the best interest of the State at heart in offering up themselves for service of their fatherland. Your emergence as governor should therefore be seen as an opportunity to pilot the affairs of the state with humility and the fear of God. It is noteworthy to state that having been sworn in, you are now the governor of Cross River State and not just APC.

Your campaign slogan of putting The People First is one which encapsulates the whole yearnings of the masses and we expect that you will hit the ground running as you face this daunting task of restoring the lost glory of our dear state.

As very critical stakeholders who are doggedly committed to the welfare and overall good of Cross Riverians, we have elected to immediately commence our constitutional role of advising you on sensitive matters regarding statecraft and good governance. We therefore bring to your notice the following few quick wins;

It is our studied opinion that you begin the new administration by rededicating our state to God almighty. The spiritual tone of our state is staggering at its lowest ebb. We need a comprehensive all-round revival in Cross River State.

We urge you to run an open, transparent and accountable administration with absolute regards to due process and respect for human rights and justice in the discharge of your duties as governor.

In setting up your cabinet, it is important to populate your team with a few egg heads who are armed with the right character, competence and capacity to take the state out of the doldrums. We call for a complete departure from the charade of the last administration.

We charge you to deliberately create sustainable jobs for the army of jobless youths as well as build an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

Your administration should face current realities by deliberately breaking away from the temptation to embark on white elephant projects. It is ideal to concentrate on recreating a functional governance architecture aimed at getting the state to work again. Our moribund Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) requires urgent overhaul and the workers need to be incentivised to boost their service delivery system.

With the absence of a functional local government council, we urge you to expeditiously commence the process of conducting free, fair and credible elections to fill the vacuum created by the outgoing council executive.

As you embark on this political voyage, we wish you well as you steer the ship of our dear state to a safe harbour.

We wish to assure you of our unalloyed readiness to support your administration to ensure the success of your policies and programmes. You should also be prepared to accommodate our constructive criticism and feedback geared towards the entire wellbeing of our dear state.

Congratulations, Your Excellency.
