Azman Air Receives Permission To Evacuate Stranded Nigerians From Sudan

The Nigerian government has granted Azman Air, a private airline, approval to evacuate Nigerian citizens who were trapped in Sudan due to the ongoing unrest in the Northeast African country.

This was made known on Monday night by the airline via its official Instagram handle revealing that the evacuation would begin today (Tuesday).

The statement reads, “Azman Air has received the approval of the Federal Government to Evacuate Nigerians stranded at the Egyptian border amid the Sudan crisis with the 409-Seater Airbus A340-600.

“Evacuation is expected to commence from Tuesday, May 2 as we await final clearance from Egypt.”

Azman Air is the second private airline after Air Peace that had indicated interest to evacuate Nigerians who were stranded in Sudan free of charge amidst the escalating fight in the country.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Office of the airline, Allen Onyema, also disclosed in a statement on Monday that urgent assistance was needed for the evacuees.

According to Onyema, Nigerian students and others stranded in the war-racked nation have urgent “needs for our help.”
