Our attention have been drawn to a laughable publication by a Faceless online platform under the guise of a non existing group to peddle blackmail and terrible lies against Distinguished Sen. Dr Stephen Odey to had sponsored Hon. Princess Otanya Odey to the Supreme Court to disqualify Hon. Regina Anyogo from being the State Assembly candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Yala1 state constituency.
The ill fated piece targeted at blackmailing, cause dissatisfaction by a non existent Concerned Yala APC Team and to purport the refined capacity leader, astute lawmaker and a party man as Sen. Odey to had pitch tent against the party is petty, cheap and absolutely baseless.
It is no news that Princess Otanya consulted widely and put herself forward to vie for the seat of the State Assembly to represent Yala 1 state constituency, bought the intent and nomination forms, screened and was duly cleared by the party to contest the 2022 APC Primaries that was hijacked by agent of division and some undemocratic elements within the party and was taken out of the designated constituency to conduct a kangaroo unlawful Primary election as against the 2022 Electoral Act as amended which saw to the emergence of Rt. Hon. Regina Anyogo to pursue her unpopular third term bid that received the highest rejection in the annals of Yala political history because of her abysmal poor performance as a member of the State Assembly.
It’s on the heels of the irregularities and breach of electoral acts guidelines on party nomination of candidates that prompted Otanya Odey to approach the court for justice. For the record, Otanya solely and single handedly sponsored herself with her hard earned money and was subjucted through the crucibles of the law starting from the Federal High Court, to Appeal and then to the supreme Court that delivered a unanimous judgement that stripped Hon. Anyogo of the candidacy of the APC for State Assembly to represent Yala 1 state constituency after a thorough and exhaustive court processes which found that the election that saw to her emergence was illegal as it was conducted outside the designated constituency against the provision of the Electoral Act.
All that Princess Otanya did was exercise her civil rights and graciously saved Yala 1 from a catastrophic misrepresentation by someone whose track record of her years in the same position for two consecutive is more or less synonymous with retrogression. Her actions did not, in any way violate the provision of both the party and the country’s constitution, so therefore, every heresy from faceless writers such as this who are suffering from post-failure trauma will perpetually remain a gibberish and inconsequential escalation.
Saying Senator Stephen Odey sponsored Hon. Otanya against the decision of the party is unfounded and simply suggest that it’s a witchhunt and handiwork of jealousy over the cordial political relationship being enjoyed by the duo.
And what we know about Dist Senator Stephen Odey and Princess Otanya Odey is the fact that Otanya holds Sen Odey in high esteem and regards him as her Leader based on his forthrightness, thoroughness, capacity, and people-oriented leadership. We acknowledge the outstanding performance of the APC in Yache in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections and the Governorship and State Assembly Election courtesy of the formidable Dist Senator Stephen Odey. He has empowered countless sons and daughters of Yache/Gabu and Yala as a whole as well as Cross Riverians.
The detastful post is a deliberate action to put a dent in the hard earned reputation of Senator Stephen Odey and a target towards injuring the relationship and cause disaffection between Governor Ben Ayade and the SUBEB chairman. And If that is their motive, it is dead on arrival.
We enjoin those carrying out this hatchet job of blackmail and lies to desist totally from it, even though it’s the originator’s stock in trade before they’re being made to face the full wrath of the law.
We urge faithful and loyalty party men and women to discountenance in it’s entirety the baseless junk post from disenchanted, pained and shameless losers, who will continue to wallow in mire of their self-inflicted failure and relish the victories of the party in the just concluded elections.
