The member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency, Hon. Godwin Offiono alongside, the PDP candidate for Yala II State Constituency rerun election, Dr. Martins Achadu, the constituency Officer to Sen. Jarigbe Agom, Mr. Egar Mgbantul, the constituency officer to Hon Godwin Offiono, Dr Raphael Ogar Oko and other PDP members, yesterday commissioned a solar water project at community health post, Wanudu, Ujigatom, Ijiraga-ward, South-Ukelle, Yala LGA.
The solar water project which is one of Hon. Offiono’s projects in the region, became necessary to mitigate the sufferings of the people of Wanudu, due to lack of potable drinking water. According to the community, water has been their major problem and they are excited having water finally.
Hon. Offiono while commissioning the project, commended the people for their steadfastness and support for PDP thus far. He said he heard the yearnings of Wanudu people for water and acted immediately, because ‘water is life.’ He assured them that more projects will keep coming to the community and Ukelle Nation generally, from Senator Jarigbe, himself and Dr. Achadu. He pleaded with the people to come out enmass to reaffirm Dr. Achadu’s victory in the saturday February 3rd rerun election that will be conducted in some polling units in Yala II state constituency.
Dr. Achadu greeted his people and promised that with his addition to Sen. Jarigbe, Hon. Offiono and other leaders, Yala II constituency will surely witness many more projects and empowerment.
Mr. Egar Mgbantul also applauded the people for their support for PDP so far, promising that more projects will definitely come to Ijiraga and the entire Ukelle.
The entourage made a brief stopover at the palace of His Royal Highness, Ubiet Stephen Ekwork Odom, the clan head of Ntrigom kingdom, to greet him and his wife, Chief Mrs. Martina Odom, before proceeding to North-Ukelle to inspect the 11km deplorable Ezekwe-Igede road currently being graded and expanded by Hon. Godwin Offiono. In North-Ukelle, the team was received by jubilant members of the benefiting communities, and was satisfied with the job done by the contractor, assuring the communities of more projects.
The road project in Yala II cut across the following communities: Ezekwe market, Uchu village, Abuja village, Ogbada village in Ezekwe community. Igede village, Ibila, Kampala village, Ohadahame, Eheha down to Anyugbe in Igede community. The communities commended Hon. Offiono for his thoughtfulness in making the very bad roads of many years accessible to them.
The people of Wanudu also commended Hon. Offiono and prayed for God’s protection and guidance upon him. They promised to give their votes to Dr. Achadu on saturday as they did before.
