JAMB Registers 1.7m Candidates for 2024 Examination

 

The Nigerian entrance examination board for tertiary-level institutions, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB has so far registered over 1.7 million candidates for the 2024 Unified Matriculation Tertiary Examination, UMTE in the five weeks of the exercise which commenced on 14 January 2024.

This was contained in a bulletin released by JAMB dated the 19th of February, 2024.

According to the Public Communications Advisor at JAMB/ Board Chairman of the JAMB Bulletin, Dr Fabian Benjamin, 1.733, 945 candidates have been registered for the 2024 UMTE in the last five weeks, across the approved registration/examination centers in the country.

The agency is targeting to register over 2.2 million candidates at the end of the exercise on the 26th of February, which would be the highest ever in the 42-year history of the board.

According to him, the board has also in the last five weeks paid over N1.18 billion naira to the. Approved Computer-Based Testing, CBT, Centers across the nation as registration charges.

“The Board has in the last five weeks paid One Billion One Hundred and Eighty-eight Million, Six Hundred and Thirty-eight Thousand, Five Hundred Naira (N1.188, 638,500) only to Computer Based Testing Centers as registration charges.”

In the analysis, week two records the highest so far with over N295, 703,800 paid out as charges to the CBT Centers.

JAMB warned that any of the approved centers found wanting during and after the registration and exmination will be blacklisted
