Tinubu Meets Security Chiefs over Protests

President Bola Tinubu held an emergency meeting with his security chiefs to address the escalating hunger protests and the controversial flying of Russian flags by some demonstrators. The National Security Council has strongly condemned the display of foreign flags, deeming it a potential threat to national security.

During the meeting, the security chiefs briefed the President on the ongoing protests, which have spread across several states, and the emergence of Russian flags among the protesters. The President directed the security agencies to take decisive action to maintain public order and prevent any further escalation.

In response, the police have arrested several protesters found carrying Russian flags, with more arrests expected in the coming days. The authorities have warned that anyone found displaying foreign flags or engaging in activities deemed harmful to national security will face the full force of the law.

The protests, initially sparked by concerns over hunger and economic hardship, have taken a surprising turn with the appearance of Russian flags. While some protesters claim they are simply seeking international attention, others argue that the flags represent a call for foreign intervention in Nigeria’s internal affairs.

As tensions rise, the government has urged citizens to remain calm and avoid engaging in activities that could compromise national security. The President has also promised to address the underlying issues driving the protests, including economic hardship and food insecurity.
