Nigeria Computer Society Pledges to Support NPC in Conducting First Digital Census

 

A delegation from the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) led by its National President, Prof. Adesina Simon Sodiya, FNCS, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, fnsa, on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja.

The visit was to discuss ways in which the NCS could collaborate with the NPC to conduct the first digital Population and Housing Census in Nigeria.

In his remarks, Prof. Sodiya commended the NPC for its efforts in planning and preparing for the census, and expressed the NCS’s readiness to support the Commission in any way possible. He said that the NCS had a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of information technology, and that it would be willing to share this expertise with the NPC to ensure the success of the census.

Hon. Kwarra expressed his appreciation for the NCS’s support, and said that the Commission would be working closely with the NCS to ensure that the census is conducted in a timely and efficient manner. He said that the census would be a critical tool for planning and development in Nigeria, and that it was important that it be conducted accurately and fairly.

The two organizations agreed to work together to develop a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would formalize their collaboration on the census. The MoU is expected to be signed in the coming weeks.

The NCS is a professional organization that represents information technology professionals in Nigeria. The NPC is a government agency responsible for conducting population and housing censuses in Nigeria.
