A Socio political group US4Us Movement has called on the public to discountenance all accusations of a 3Bn fraud allegation against the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Dr Betta Edu.
This was contained in a statement by the National Director of the group, Comr. Gifted Nelson.
The statement reads;
The Attention of the US4US Movement has been drawn to a malicious and vile publication making the rounds on various news platforms, suspected to be a devilish orchestration by faceless hirelings and fifth columnists aimed at casting unnecessary aspersions on the Honourable Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, following the ongoing investigation by the anti-graft agency into the alleged diversion of #44.8billion from NSIP account under the supervision of Halima Shehu.
Ordinarily, we ought not to glorify these faceless hirelings with a response as the allegation against Dr. Betta Edu is manifestly baseless, tenuous and frivolously unbecoming, but given the fact that these unscrupulous elements have an inordinate penchant for mowing a baby in order to feast on its carcass, we deem it expedient drawing the attention of the public to the ghoulish tendencies of these rabble-rousers.
It is important to note that the payment of one month allowance to beneficiaries of NPOWER was properly approved by the President and no time did the Minister nor her associates seek a withdrawal of fund from the NSIPA account.
Given the fact that the suspended National Coordinator of NSIPA is desperately looking for one last straw to hang onto, we invite the coordinator to furnish the anti-graft agency with information on whose approval she withdrew #44.8billion from Government Account into private accounts, companies accounts etc.
While commending the anti-graft agencies, particularly the EFCC for the excellent progress made so far in recovering the sum of #30billion after freezing various accounts allegedly linked to Halima Shehu, we urge the anti graft Agency not to be distracted by the diversionary antics of these enemies of our beloved country. Further more, it is worthy of note that it was Dr. Betta Edu who drew the attention of the EFCC to the unspeakable fraudulent activity within the NSIPA. True to her commitment and the determination of President Tinubu to ensure that trust is built between Nigerians and the government, Dr. Betta Edu has remain transparent in her efforts to combat poverty and bring to fruition the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.
As a group, we urge the EFCC to leave no stone unturned in carrying out thorough investigation into this fraudulent activity and we invite Mrs. Halima Shehu and her cronies to come forward and explain to Nigerians why NSIPA funds were transferred into their private and companies account without any approval from the president or Federal Executive Council. It is pertinent that the people get to know how and why their hard-earned taxes ended up into private accounts. We demand accountability and transparency.
