NDDC: Cross River rep Orok Duke assumes office

 Rt. Hon. Orok Duke, Cross River State’s Commissioner on the Niger Delta Development Commission(NDDC) board, today officially resumed duty at the state office of NDDC located in the state capital, Calabar.

The Staff of Niger Delta Development Commission warmly received the state representative with lots enthusiasm, he was received by the acting state director who coincedentally also assume office today.

In the acting director’s speech he pledge his full loyalty to the state representative at the board of NDDC and also assured him of the full co-operation of all staffs, with assurances that all hands will be on deck to ensure a smooth running of the commission’s activities in the state

Rt.Hon. Orok Duke, in his remark appreciated the staffs for their commitment to the objective of the commission despite the numerous challenges facing the working environment in the Calabar office.

In his words;

“This is the time for Cross River State to get all it’s due as a member of the NDDC and I will ensure that we are not shortchanged in the sharing formula of all allocation ment for member states”

“NDDC is projected to get 900 billion naira as allocation and Cross River State is to get 15 billion which is absolutely unacceptable, because out of this sum we are indebted to the tune of 7.5 billion naira.

“I will make sure all this doesn’t happen again going forward and we will get equal of all that is allocated to member state because the NDDC act stipulated that all state shall be treated with equality and I see to that through the grace of God

The state representative also frowned at the fact that most project being carried out by the NDDC have been taken over by politicians who are doing it just to add to their political portfolios, he therefore urged the head of project in the commission to make sure that signage are sent to all sites where NDDC projects are being carried out immediately.

He also stated it will no longer be business as usual and that all staffs have to be up and doing henceforth.
