The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Gas, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, DSSRS, earlier today received in courtesy, members of the governing council of the Nigerian Association of Liquified Petroleum Gas Marketers (NALPGAM) at the National Assembly.

The group which was led by the National President, Mr. Olatunbosun Dapo noted that, the visit was basically to congratulate the lawmaker on his emergence as the pioneer chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas, as well as to further intimate the lawmaker about some of the activities that requires urgent attention and interventions of the Senate, as they concern the rising cost of Liquified Gas due to excessive and outrageous charges in the gas supply value chain, which inturn attracts negative multiplier effect to the final consumers which are mostly the ordinary Nigerians.

Senator Jarigbe, while commenting on the development appreciated the group for their prompt notification and further pledged the Senate’s intervention. He noted that the Senate will not conform to the negative trend because the development is not the intention of President Bola-Ahmed Tinubu on his gas initiative, rather to improving the gas sector through his new revolution of the Compressed Natural Gas, which is primarily meant to cushion the effect of the removal of petroleum subsidy.

The lawmaker further noted that, it is the will of the 10th Nigerian Senate to ensure that the current economic hardship is reduced and both the executive and legislative arms will ensure that the set goal is achieved.
