Sen. Jarigbe Attends NASS Capacity Building Workshop in Abuja

 

The Senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, DSSRS, yesterday, attended the National Assembly Capacity Building Workshop, organized by Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS) and the Independent Petroleum Producers Group (IPPG), held at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

The event was primarily set out by OPTS and IPPG to create a forum for dialogue and engagement with the government to help shape critical industry reforms and draft a regional and global competitive regulatory framework that will encourage investments in future oil and gas projects.

Senator Jarigbe, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Gas, stated that “Nigeria’s oil and gas production could get higher if moves by operators, especially in the gas sector, in collaboration with the National Assembly, yield results”.

He also noted that, challenges of oil theft, lack of gas infrastructure, funding and effects of gas flaring are some of the major challenges which the 10th National Assembly seeks to address for the interest and growth of the Nigerian economy.

The event also had the representatives of the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Distinguished Senator Barrinada Mpigi, Senator Eteng Jones Williams, the Chairman of Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS), Chevron Nigeria Limited, Rick Kennedy amongst others.
