In a quest for peace between the two warring communities of Benekaba and Ujama in Yala 2 Constituency (Ukelle), Yala LGA of Cross River State, the member representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Godwin Offiono ably represented by Mr. Isaac Okpokpo and Mr. Augustine Ibu, visited the communities to sue for peace and unity on the lingering crisis.
The MP appealed to both communities to shun crisis and embrace peace for effective development, as there’s no benefit in killing each other, stressing that we will all go to be with our maker someday and the earthly possessions we’re killing ourselves for will not go with us.
The Honourable member, donated cash to offset the hospital bills of the victims involved in the crisis who are receiving treatment in Enugu State University Teaching Hospital. He also Promised to be in touch with both communities, Government and relevant authorities in making sure there’s lasting peace and this never happens again.
In a quick response, the chairman of Ukelle Traditional rulers council, Chief Ubiet Ignatius Olem, commended the MP for the wonderful gesture and intervention, and prayed for God’s guidance and protection on his political career.
