Elegushi Royal Family Insists On Investigation Of Singer, MohBad’s Death, Disowns Music Promoter, Sam Larry

The Lagos State Elegushi Royal Family of Eti-Osa has again demanded an immediate investigation into the sudden death of late singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba aka MohBad.

In a statement released by the royal family’s media consultant, Deyemi Saka on Friday, the monarch said the royal family did not have a special relationship with Samson Balogun, Sam Larry.

In a statement released Thursday by the Palace, the Royal Family denounced any involvement with the music promoter.

Meanwhile, the new release from the monarch on Friday read, “First of all, as a custodian of Yoruba tradition and culture, Kabiyesi Alayeluwa Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi is a firm believer in the sacredness of human life and how heart wrenching is it for any parent to lose and bury a child. “Oun buruku ni ki majesin to’ju awon obi e ku”, and this is why the heartfelt and sincere sympathy of Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi and the entire Royal Family go to the parents, siblings, friends and other well-wishers of ILERIOLUWA ALOBA, popularly known as “Mohbad”.

“Secondly, we will also like to inform the general public that Samson Erinfolami Balogun is not a member of the Elegushi Royal Family and not under direct or indirect employment of the Palace, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi or the Royal Family.

“Thirdly, as a public figure and a Father to all and in particular everyone in His Royal Magesty’s Kingdom and domain, taking pictures with Kabiyesi is not a proof of a “special” relationship, it is a testament of the open door policy and new approach to traditional leadership which is not peculiar to HRM Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, any interpretation beyond this is a misrepresentation of fact. We therefore urge the general public to discountenance insinuations and innuendos aimed with the malicious posts being circulated on using His Royal Majesty’s might to prevent the law from taking its course as hoax of blackmail.

“Lastly, HRM Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi calls for prompt investigation into the said incident and a probe into the death of Ilerioluwa Aloba in a bid to establish remote cause of his untimely death.

“Once again, we pray to almighty God to grant the Alobas the immense strength to bear this painful loss.”

SaharaReporters earlier reported how Mohbad wrote a petition to the Nigerian Police Force reporting multiple threats to his life from controversial socialite, Sam Larry, amongst others, according to the document which surfaced online on Thursday.

Mohbad, on June 27, 2023, had filed a petition captioned “Petition of threat to life, malicious damage of properties valued the sum of five-million-naira, assault occasioning harm, oppression and conduct likely to cause breach of peace” against Sam Larry and Oba Elegushi of Eti-Osa, Lagos State.

In a video circulating on the internet, Mohbad and Zlatan could be seen on set for a music video when Larry allegedly stormed the scene with some boys targeting the late singer.
