
As part of his commitment to improve the growth and development of basic education in his federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Joseph Bassey has been commended for donating a completed and well furnished block of classrooms and offices to Edgerly Ballantine Memorial Primary School in Calabar South.
Hon. Bassey, who represent Akpabuyo/Bakassi/Calabar South Federal Constituency, was represented at the commissioning and handing over of the project to the school by Hon. Effiong Ekarika (Maslow), who is the House of Assembly member representing Calabar South 1 State Constituency.
Hon. Bassey assured members of his constituency that his office would continue to attract more projects that have direct impact on them, thereby thanking them for all their support and dedication towards his representation.
He called on them to continue to support the administration of Gov. Bassey Otu, for optimal growth and development of Cross River State.
In his magnanimity, Hon. Effiong Ekarika also donated exercise books to the primary school as his support for education growth.
Head Teacher of the School, Mrs Iquo Edet, thanked the federal lawmaker for the timely completion of the project, describing him as “a man who keeps his word”.
A primary 4 pupil of the school, Master James Ekpeyong, who spoke on behalf of pupils in the school, lauded Hon. Bassey for creating a conducive environment for teaching and learning in the school, adding that the new building and furnishing of the classrooms have given the school a facelift.
A traditional ruler in the community, Chief Alfred Asuquo, who witnessed the handing over of the project, said that one of their demands from the lawmaker was the total renovation of the school, adding that Hon. Bassey is a man of honour and integrity.
In attendance at the brief event were; the Councillor representing Ward Four in Calabar South local government, Hon. Cobham Williams, the ward Chairman Mr. Edem Archibong, the Senior Legislative Aide to Hon. Bassey, Comrade Joshua Ante and other stakeholders.
It would be recall that within the last two months, the lawmaker has handed over completed school projects to several communities in his federal constituency- Holy Child Convent Primary School in Calabar South and another primary school in Idundu community in Akpabuyo local government area of the state.
This investment in education across his federal constituency demonstrate his commitment towards raising a new generation of leaders from the basic.
