UNICAL 50th anniversary/37th convocation: 66 students bag first class, Akpabio, Wike, Otu others to receive Honorary Ph.DS

The University of Calabar has disclosed that a total of 66 students will be awarded First Class Degree during its 37th convocation ceremony slated for this weekend.

Vice Chancellor of UNICAL, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, stated this during a press conference with journalists on Monday in Calabar to highlight the activities slated for the Golden Jubilee celebration of the University.

According to her, the standard set up by her administration in the areas of quality assurance/control, result management, curriculum expansion, improving critical infrastructure on campus, instilling confidence and discipline on students among others, were responsible for the high number of first class graduates.

She disclosed that her administration has record the highest number of first class graduates since the establishment of the university in 1975.

“For the 37th convocation ceremony, we shall be awarding 66 First Class, 3,054 Second Class Upper Division, 7,450 Second Class Lower Division, 925 Third Class and 7 Pass”, she said.

She listed those to be awarded with Honorary Doctorate Degrees to include;

H.E. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike (D. Pol.Sc)
H.E. Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu (D. Pol Sc)
Maj. Gen. (rtd.) Moses Bisong Obi (D. Peace & Conflict Studies)
Hon. Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, JSC (D. Laws.)
Prince Arthur I. Eze (D. Bus Mgt)
